KEATON MCQUARRIE

I am a passionate visual effects artist and graphic designer based in San Diego and I take great pride in my work. My proficiency in all programs offered by the Adobe Creative Suite allows me to create just about anything that I, or anyone else, can think up. I am fueled by my passion to visualize what can not exist in our reality, but alternatively, by the achievement of bringing a scene closer to reality. That is to say that I also find great joy in providing visual effects work that is so believable that it goes unnoticed.

I graduated from DePaul University in Chicago in 2019 with a bachelor of fine arts degree in film and television with a concentration in visual effects. The skills that I developed at DePaul have allowed me to work as a freelance visual effects artist since early 2018. Over the past six years I have worked on numerous short films, music videos and video advertisements. The most notable of these include “The Headhunter’s Daughter”, a short film which claimed the Grand Jury Prize at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, “Concrete”, an upcoming science fiction short film starring acclaimed actor Ed Harris, “Hilum”, a short film which was awarded the Short Film Jury Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival and several commercials for the popular mobile game “Rise of Kingdoms”. Outside of visual effects positions, I have also worked full time as a graphic / motion graphics designer for Backstreet Surveillance, a nationwide security company based out of Salt Lake City, UT. During my four years at the company, I produced all marketing content for use in advertising campaigns and for display on the company website.

I am currently dedicated to transitioning from contract and freelance visual effects positions to a full time in-house position. This decision ultimately resulted from my eagerness to become a part of a greater creative team where I can showcase my passion and talents on a larger scale and collaborate with peers who will assist in the expansion of my capabilities.
